Breakfast @ Mandarin Oriental and a police escort

| 38 Comments | No TrackBacks

mo fruit platter

Seasonal fruits with berries with a papaya smoothie.

mo bread

Basket of croissants, Danish pastries, lemon poppy seed muffins, breakfast rolls served with preserves, honey and butter.

pamela anderson bagels

Creamy scrambled eggs on toasted bagel with chicken ham, scallion cream cheese and grilled asparagus. This is also known (unofficially) as Pamela Anderson bagels. ;)

bmw breakfast

I had breakfast at MO last weekend before driving down to Damansara. We had vouchers to spend for drinks and snacks and I got Xpax reloads instead coz I wanted the XXL bonus. Heh!

However, the best part is driving with a police escort (something you REALLY have to experience). The police stopped all traffic and even created a third lane out of a two lane road so we can speed through the middle.

I think this is the first and last time I'll ever feel like a VIP. Now that I know what royalty feels like, I can die in peace.

might not b the last time u can feel like a vip....

after u die :) for ya funeral, u can request and pay for police escort to your new 6 feet under home :)

LOL...farnee la you! I kenot tahan policemen who stops traffic just so the VIPs can drive through. I guess if I'm the VIP, it's a different story altogether. :P

zomg yah i'm missing the car and the police escort too

the bagels looks good ;p
Expensive ah the brekkie?

and same like b-babe..icant stand it either but yeah..i dont mind it if i'm the VIP! ;p

I used to have a lot of those when I did convoys in my previous car club. Had one all the way from here to Johor and the Spore Cops took over from Tuas all the way into the city.

Saikua is right, you can 'buy' these escorts for funerals..RM150..they do it as part of moonlighting..oni blinking lights but no siren coz not official.

hb.. u there at kl can cap erimin cheap? can send back kch? i bank in to u la..

saikua: Haha! Great idea, I'll remember to put that in my will! ;)

Bangsar-bAbE: Exactly! I used to hate it too, but it kinda feels different (to say the least) if you're the one being escorted. It feels like...napalm in the morning. :)
It was really good, but I guess it's coz it's my frist time.

KY: Yeah, would be great to have it for work everyday eh? :)

thenomadGourmand: Hmm...I'm not sure how much breakfast cost, we were there to drive down to Perak! :)
Exactly, if you're the VIP it feels damn good. :)

Wilfred Yeo: You can buy the escorts? Ours had sirens, flashing lights and police doing fancy (and what looks very dangerous) maneavours to stop traffic. I thought you had to be associated with the government or something to get it.
Thanks for the tip, RM 150 for one bike or for an entire squadron of escorts? :)

urkuchingfriend: I don't know, I don't use it anymore.

Hi, found this post through one of the other bloggers who went on the drive.

I have added a link to your post in Autoworld Forum here: http://www.sixthseal.com/2009/12/breakfast-mandarin-oriental-and-a-police-escort.html

Additionally, you can also take pride in the fact that you had police outriders escorting you out of the city. Even media test drive that time also don't have, you know... =P

i ever created 3rd b4 myself on my best friend wedding day as all rushing time...lol

TheGunner: Hello there! Yeah, it was fun to have a police escort out of the city, it makes reaching the outskirts MUCH faster. :)
Cheers for the link. :)

ah nel: Haha! Same here, I don't have a good driving record from my constant acccidents but I was really careful with this coz it isn't my car. :)

After 10 comments, no one said anything bad about police escorts. I hate to be the bad guy but IMHO police escorts should only be used for official functions (e.g. for the Agong, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers and other high ranking government officials to use). The police should be maintaining civil order rather than escorting people around for non official functions. Just my 2 cents la.

HB, it wonderful you dine at Mandarin Hotel Buffet. It very chic there. Been there before and had a great time.

xes: Haha! You have a point there. Talking about this I nearly ran into a police escort outrider last night coz the light was green and suddenly this bike came out of nowhere and stopped the traffic at the back of me. He was quite close to my car. It sure feels good to be IN the convoy though. ;)

Vickie: Yeah, it's a nice place! :)

I love bagels..though the ones they served were not exactly how I imagined when I ordered it..but glad that it resembled something rather amusing to you huh ;-)

shame on us for having police escorts. :(

bah! who cares, it was fun!

Nice breakfast and unbelievable police escort. Lucky you. :)

Hahha... I took the video! why never thank me one? eh i want my videos and photos too preezee

HB...looks like a good brekkie, damn, I sure miss pastry. You've inspired me to make some. Puff pastry, peanut butter, brushed with melted chocolate topped with streaks of white chocolate.

But how come no pictures of Ah Moy? Come on dude, you standard is slipping, he he he.

You are my hero man, everyday have picture of different Ah moy.

seasonal fruits? guess you did not mean barbra walters or Dr. Ed Dyer on pbs schylinng.... for... officers of the court... thats a bad word...well there are none fresh right now, cause its winter.... an it's just started.... got jan, feb, mar, apr. untill i got to mow... the grass again... hay season.... well... i kinda lke this time of year... just nice... and most of family are christian or jewish... belive it or not, some islami cousins in packisstan...well, never mind... but live and let live.... ok... but for the last two years... well, we left off all the hype, travel and travil... the kids get small presents, we adults eat a nice meal together, but thats it. nobody goes in debt. for example... will spend , well, ok 400 usd total. as opposed to 4000 usd three years ago... sorry macy's, wallmart, and visa at 14 percent .... we just figured out we dont need to do that no more...and the same goes for new years... is yor palete so fine you can really tell the differece between dom at 110 or cooks 8. or beluga ostria vs salmon? not to put a damper on anything, but we just came to the conclusion that we would rather not be up to our ears in debt, come 2 jan. again. you can have fun with out blowing a hugge amount o money. like give to the needy a round you... yeah you are just being a tight ass... no... the kids will be ok come dec 28th, and they did not need a we... and we will not have any cc debt to pay off... might even go to the beach... or get to visit some day...meanwhile... hitomi: Yup, it was a lot of fun!

There was breakfast? :p I was too sleepy to enjoy it, and too eager to get in the cars. heheheh.

And i think we saw a lot of annoyed faces staring at us while we were driving through the TTDI traffic light. heheheh.

eyeris: Haha! Yes, although I noticed you didn't touch the breakfast much.
...but man, that police escort was something else. :)

Hey, your were really escorted by police??
For what huh??

woaini_87: It was arranged by BMW and Petronas for our road trip. :)

Quite a few are hooked up now with avatar video games, my pals recommended it to me to attempt it out. I'm excited.

Superb post, I share the same views. I wonder why this unique planet we all share truly does not contemplate just like me personally and the website master ;-)

This has actually sparked up an notion in my thoughts. This can be a great website article.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.
