Absolut Akimbo! I managed to get two (2) 1 liter bottles of duty-free vodka goodness from my sister and her husband traveling back from NZ. I wanted Absolut New Orleans and Absolut Los Angeles (the two new city themed Absolut vodka flavors) but my sister couldn't find it...or couldn't be bothered to look for it, I'll never be sure. ;)

She couldn't find Absolut Pears (to complete my Absolut-ly Fabulous liquor collection) either, so I settled with Absolut Ruby Red, which I already have and thus have earned the right (in my twisted rhetoric) to drink...

...and Absolut Mango, launched earlier this year for my collection.

I've been trying to find the elusive Absolut 100 (2007) in the black bottles that weighs in at a respectable 50% alcohol but it's apparently not available at our fine KLIA duty free retail experience. Oh well...
Happy monthsary, dear. :)

I have Absolut 100 (alongside my Smirnoff Black in the freezer), I can't remember where I bought it though, I think it was KLIA.
Taste wise which is better? Hope you did'nt drink whole bottle at one sitting? Hope on your day off. Afraid of drinking too much due to loss memory and where I left my wallet. Man, that was a lot of cash also.
Maybe been punish for that.
I have a duty free shopping mall located just 1 hour from my hostel - Bukit Kayu Hitam and Langkawi nearby. I've been buying chocolates and liquors at really cheap price!! I'm not an alchoholic but i collect them ;p Btw, did u start training ?
Is there any unusual alcohol drinks made in Malaysia? In Hawaii there pineapple wine and mango wine and Japan peach sake and apple wine.
Is there durian wine? I know it strange and I do not eat durian just like to collect and give away to friends.
When you do settle in KL please show many places in KL to people in Amercia .
i saw absolut 100 at the duty free shop in padang besar perlis yesterday... regretting for not buying it...
haiz... fyi it was priced at rm100 duty free...
very nice bottle...
There lot of Russian people in the San Francisco bay area and that most popular liquor around. Still it wine country since near Napa so wine is number 1. We have those type of vodkas too at and outlet that sell at rock bottom price call Beaverage and More.
Special sale of week buy one get another at half off. But now people are careful not to drink too much so business is slow.
I drink but not really into it. Social only. At least you do it at home where it more safe. I do not trust myself in driving when out drinking with friends if so take a taxi home.
Hey! If they're for your collection, I thought you're not suppposed to drink it? Keep for display in your liquor cabinet?...Ur monthsary again? This should be your second one, right? Good, very good! Any plans yet!...LOL!!!
i shud be comin back to sibu end of the year. let me know if ur still after anything to complete your absolut-ly fabulous collection :) they mite haf the absolut 100 at the duty-free at melb airport? im not sure haha.
Notice you never care to drink rice wine or sake? Very happy you will be at KL. How many hours by plane from Sibu to KL? I could'nt find it on the web. Well vodka I like it in Black Russian or White Russian.
celebrated monthsary by vodka-ing?
uh...the taste of vodka hangover years ago still lingers in my mouth...
this post makes me more regretful of not getting the vodka mango at the Bali airport.
can pass that bottle to me at no extra charges? lol!
they have in bangkok though.
I've got the Absolut Mango even before they launched it in Malaysia. It smelled great. The taste is just like mango. Very exotic and I love it. I only like to collect the Absolut bottles because when it comes to drinking vodka, Grey Goose is still the best!
Saw on the so-called Dr Tan's blog that you're going off to some place else? Wanna pass me all ur liquid assets (liquor) for safekeeping? Hahahahahahahaha!!!!
I heard Black Russian? Yes very chic cocktail it more of a city drink which business men and women like to order. I like Long Island Ice Tea it very good cocktail also.
ShaolinTiger: KLIA! My sister probably didn't bother looking then. She was arriving international, and claimed she didn't see any besides the regular flavors. She didn't even see Absolut Pears.
Nok: I haven't opened the Absolut Mango yet. I just drank the Absolut Ruby Red coz I already have a bottle of that. I collect Absolut vodka oz I like the advertising. :)
chefmel: Hey, that's great! Can you get some alcohol for me? I'm not an alcoholic too, just a social drinker. Problem is, I socialize every day. ;)
Training a little now, haven't gone all out coz of travel plans. ;)
Erica: Well, there's tuak, our local rice wine. It's made in Sarawak. I haven't seen durian wine around but have seen Tongkat Ali wine (a local aphrosidiac, supposedly).
n0thingness: Okay, thanks, now I know where to get it. RM 100 for the 1 liter bottle? Usual Absolut vodka is about RM 63. Worth the premium though. Cheers!
Michale: I like Smirnoff as well, especially the blue label which has 50% alcohol. It's the one I drink when I was er...having problems with alcohol a couple of years back. My tipple of choice. They don't have good marketing and packaging though, but a solid vodka.
Vennie: Hmm...I kinda drink and drive. I know it's not the best thing to be doing, but I like to think that I've been doing that for so long that I'm used to it and tend to be more careful then when sober. I don't drive if I'm too inebrieted though.
suituapui: The Absolut Mango is for my collection. I already have a bottle of Absolut Ruby Red. :)
Yeah, second monthsary. Hmm...see how it works out. ;)
Alex: Thanks mate! I would love the collectibles (city themed series, Absolut Bling Bling etc) since they apparently don't have it over here. I'll get the Absolut 100 from Perlis since it's available here. Cheers!
Andy: I do drink sake, but the price of sake here is very expensive. The cardboard cartons (like the ones for milk) goes for RM 100-200 and it's only available at certain locations so I don't drink it much. I do like it though.
2 hours flight from Sibu to KL.
xin: No lar...I cooked something actually, will write the post this weekend. I have been very busy lately with everything that's going on. :)
About the taste, you get used to it. ;)
crappy booze: Cannot. :) It's for my collection.
It's also available at KLIA.
Nicole: Nice, which ones? I've got a friend going to Bangkok next month and he's not a drinker. Do they have the Absolut city themed series? I would love to get a hold of that.
eiling: I haven't tasted it yet, I'm going to get another bottle. I should have asked my sister to get two bottles of Absolut Mango since I already have Ruby Red. One for drinking and one for keeping. Yeah, I like to collect the bottles too, coz they look really nice.
I prefer drinking single malt if I have the money, Macallan 12 years tastes pretty good, but the aged 18 years and above are great. I've had a Macallan 30 year old once, and that was when I had a huge windfall. :)
suituapui: Haha! Well, I know you don't drink so it'll be safe with you. I'll just keep it in my bedroom though. :)
Peggy: Yeah, used to be a big fan of cocktails. I even had one I created called "Something wicked this way comes..." (one of my taglines for a site or blog I used to own) at Luconia, a pub owned by a friend. It's LETHAL! :)
Served in a tall glass, all the stuff inside is at least 40% with the exception of one or two. Served neat and expected to be drunk with a straw in one non-stop sip. I did a post about that before, some people came up to me and told me horror stories after drinking it. Heh!
no worries. shud b heading back end of the year. send me an email, and i'd put a star beside it :)
you're welcome...
while u are there be sure to buy some of the duty free cigarettes there...
George Karelias And Sons cigarettes which is available there is absolutely fabulous...
comes in a nice box...
very smooth and satisfying...
I just came back from Langkawi as my company has a shop in the LKW Airport, we sell liquor and tobacco. I bought a bottle of Absolut Pears and Absolut Apeach- just to go home to find that I already have a bottle of Apeach. We have Absolut Level and 100 in our shop too- RSP at RM139. I got mine after staff disc at RM50 a bottle!
Alex: I definately will. Cheers for the offer my man. :)
Will be eying the Absolut range.
n0thingness: I haven't tasted that brand before. I shall check it out when I get there. Cheers!
Yiling: Yiling, can I be your new best friend? ;)
Can you get a bottle of Absolut 100 and Absolut Level for me?
RM 50 per bottle is REALLY cheap. Staff price eh? You work in the industry?
I wanna taste that Absolute Mango! Looks SOOO yummy!
