The Road to Samadhi (Sempadi)

It's a scenic pier on the beach by the sea...

Fishing paraphernalia - shrimp for bait, fishing rods (anglers) and other miscellaneous items.

How to hook bait 101 or spearing a sharp metal hook through shrimp

This would be me, attempting to strike a suitable pose to look as if I was fishing although I know jack shit about fishing and the likes. ;)

I went off exploring while waiting for a fish to eat the bait - there is a crumbly gravel path under the pier. Smoking joints while watching the tide come in is very therapeutic...

I found a (dead and eviscerated) king crab...

I also found several mud hoppers. Yes, there is a mud hopper somewhere here. It's a little like "Where's Waldo?" - you just have to squint a bit.

The tree, struggling against the incoming tide: "Help me!", it said.

Barnacle covered concrete structures underneath the peer - perfect for an afternoon nap.

There's a lot of fish (small ones) in the calmer waters under the pier...

Unfortunately, I did not manage to catch any.

One of my friends managed to hook up a pair of sunglasses though. No shit.

The first catch of the day!

It's a red spotted fish, weighing about 300-400 grams caught by one of my friends.

I managed to catch a tiny fish at the end. Go me! ;) I used a fishing rod with 5 hooks and bait and snagged this little snapper. It made an extremely disconcerting noise when I hooked it up - the jaws went "snap snap snap" very rapidly, producing a nightmarish "kap kap kap" noise, like an infernal soul grinding its teeth.

The fishing trip ended when the rain came in...I think I was scarred for life by the snapping sounds the fish made anyway. ;)
I'm going to need therapy...
